The project consists of the installation of new HVAC Equipment for the Shark Tank at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Museum. The HVAC equipment to be installed included three-ton Dectron dehumidification units, condensing units, new fiberglass ductwork, and a new heat exchanger for the tank. The main concern of the project team was keeping the shark tank area free of any debris, chemicals, dust, tools, or other obstructions that could affect the marine life in any way. To accomplish this, flotation structures were constructed as working platforms, and polyethylene barriers were constructed from the floor of the flotation structures to the ceiling of the room. The result was a self-contained flotation structure that was capable of supporting the necessary workers, materials, and tools. Another measure taken to ensure containment was installation of solid walkways over the grated catwalks that are over the tank. This ensured that no dirt, mud, or debris from worker"s boots would fall in to the tank.
